Traditional Reiki Curriculum

Attunement may begin a chapter. It does not replace the education needed to carry the practice responsibly.

The ELYSIANS Reiki curriculum makes the learning path visible—from Level 1 self-practice to advanced application, professional development, and teacher preparation.

Why the curriculum is comprehensive

Technique is only one part of becoming ready.

Someone can memorize hand positions, receive an attunement, or learn a symbol without yet knowing how to observe carefully, communicate responsibly, respect consent, document practice, or recognize the limits of a claim.

That is why the Elysians process includes many parts. Hindi para pahirapan ang student. It is designed to make the learning strong enough for those who may eventually offer Reiki professionally—while still respecting students who are learning mainly for themselves.

A comprehensive process does not promise perfection. It gives practice, responsibility, and readiness somewhere real to develop.

The curriculum follows a developmental order.

  1. 1. Learn the foundation.
  2. 2. Practice it personally.
  3. 3. Observe and document.
  4. 4. Apply it within scope.
  5. 5. Receive feedback and assessment.
  6. 6. Integrate before progressing.

Core curriculum

Three levels. Different responsibilities.

Curriculum details may be refined as learning materials and standards develop, but the core direction and progression remain visible before enrollment.

01

Level 1 · Shoden

Foundations, self-practice, and responsible beginning

Before distant work, advanced methods, or professional identity, students build a personal relationship with Reiki through structured learning and repeated practice.

Orientation, responsibilities, and pre-training reflection

Reiki history, context, and lineage

Understanding Ki without assigning meaning to every sensation

Reiki principles and Gassho practice

Self-Reiki and foundational hand positions

Byosen awareness, Kenyoku, and Reiji-ho

Attunement within the learning process

Foundational Reiki practice with others

Consent, ethics, boundaries, and appropriate scope

Practice documentation, reflection, assessment, and integration

Developmental outcome

A grounded Level 1 foundation that can remain a personal practice or become the basis for later professional development.

02

Level 2 · Okuden

Deepening practice and working with greater responsibility

Level 2 develops from completed Level 1 practice. Students work with additional traditional methods while strengthening observation, communication, documentation, and responsibility toward others.

Level 1 review and progression readiness

Traditional symbols and responsible application

Mental and emotional Reiki practice

Distant Reiki methods and boundaries

Expanded Byosen and observation practice

Structured sessions with other people

Consent, client communication, and record keeping

Case reflection and practice documentation

Recognizing limitations and appropriate referrals

Practicum, assessment, and completion review

Developmental outcome

A more developed Reiki practice supported by consistent documentation, supervised application, and clearer professional responsibility.

03

Level 3 · Shihan / Mastery Path

Mastery, leadership, and long-term professional development

Level 3 is not presented as a quick title. It is a longer developmental path that asks students to demonstrate integration, maturity, professional conduct, and the capacity to carry Reiki responsibly.

Advanced Reiki foundations and master-level practice

Master symbol and applicable traditional methods

Long-term personal integration

Advanced case reflection and supervised practice

Professional identity, scope, and communication

Ethics, leadership, and responsibility within a lineage

Program and practice development

Teaching observation and learning support

Practicum, documentation, and competency review

Preparation for an approved teaching role where applicable

Developmental outcome

Recognition based on sustained practice and demonstrated responsibility—not attendance, attunement, or title alone.

Optional learning subjects

Your Reiki practice can remain Reiki.

Optional subjects allow students to develop a particular area without mixing every topic into the Traditional Reiki core. They may have separate eligibility, schedules, teachers, requirements, and fees.

Optional does not mean secretly required.

A student does not need to take every optional subject to make the core Reiki level “complete.” These subjects are available when they genuinely support the direction a learner wants to develop.

What completion may require

Watching lessons or receiving attunement does not automatically complete a level. Exact requirements depend on the program, mode, batch, and level and are shown inside the student’s Learning Hub.
